100!!!

I must admit, that even my largest estimates didn't come close to the actual number...of sewing patterns that is. Yes, that's right...my patterns breed like rabbits. Simplicity, Butterick, McCall's, and a few other "smaller" brands....I had had the feeling that they were "taking over". Patterns in the dining room...the living room, in many of the drawers of my dresser and desk (????), the coffee table in the living room, the coffee table in the family room, mixed into piles, still in the bags, mixed in with piles of fabric and notions...indeed, even as I sit here after completing my task of getting "all" of them into the 2 pattern boxes I have I can see at least three more that missed my initial round up. How did this happen? I mean, sure when you really think about it...each pattern sale of $.99 or $1.99...10 patterns is the limit...I hardly ever leave with fewer than 8...it would appear that I have a chronic illness...yes, it would appear to be the case. (Borrowed from Wikipedia)

"In medicine, a chronic disease is a disease that is long-lasting or recurrent. The term chronic describes the course of the disease, or its rate of onset and development. A chronic course is distinguished from a recurrent course; recurrent diseases relapse repeatedly, with periods of remission in between. As an adjective, chronic can refer to a persistent and lasting medical condition. Chronicity is usually applied to a condition that lasts more than three months. Diabetes is a good example."

So there you have it! At least this one doesn't result in death (does it???). It is however, completely un-treatable, and remission is completely dependent on the sufferers' self control. And those who prefer to trace their patterns to cutting them, beware! This greatly increases the amount of storage space required! I will be attempting a new storage method myself... heavy duty page protectors in a large, sturdy 3-ring binder...as many as needed, organized with dividers. This would seem to be a fairly easy method...I'll let you know how it goes once I find said binders. :) I'm thinking one for women's patterns, and one for each of maternity, children's, men's, household/crafts, and costumes.

Wow! That is a bunch:-) I'm not there yet, but it could creep up on me when I'm not looking I'm sure.
Hmmmm, death...probably not, unless you get lost amongst the pile...and can't find your way out:-p

Happy organizing!

Death? Not unless you have a serious bunch of pattern paper cuts! :-D
